Arjuna, यथा
[yathA]
just as समिद्धोग्निः
[samiddhogniH]
a well-burning fire एधाम्सि भस्मसात् कुरुते
[edhAmsi bhasmasAt kurute]
annihilates fuel, तथा
[tathA]
in the same way, ज्ञानाग्निः
[jJAnAgniH]
the fire of knowledge सर्वकर्माणि भस्मसात् कुरुते
[sarvakarmANi bhasmasAt kurute]
will burn down all your past actions.
Awareness of the Self and the Lord liberates us from our flaws.
A well-burning fire turns an entire mass of solid fuel into ashes. The knowledge of the Self is similar to that fire. It burns down the entire list of endless deeds committed since eternity, which have stuck to the Self till now.
