For Eternal Beginners
धूमो रात्रिस्तथा कृष्णः षण्मासा दक्षिणायनम् ।
तत्र चान्द्रमसम् ज्योतिः योगी प्राप्य निवर्तते ॥ २५ ॥
dhUmo rAtristathA kRSNaH SaNmAsA dakSiNAyanam |
tatra cAndramasam jyotiH yogI prApya nivartate || 25 ||

smoke, रात्रिः तथा

the dark side of the lunar cycle, षण्मासा दक्षिणायनम्
[SaNmAsA dakSiNAyanam]
the six months when our Sun moves to the South चान्द्रमसम् ज्योतिः
[cAndramasam jyotiH]
and the light of the moon. निवर्तते
[nivartate]
This person returns again.
The words such as ‘smoke’ and ‘night’ illustrate the path taken by many of our ancestors. This would be the journey of a virtuous person. This path returns to the material world.
